I Will Gut You With A Claw Hammer

In an attempt to live to see the next Notre Dame National Title and Heisman winner, I have stopped smoking today. I have smoked for 17 years and will be 30 in August. It has been a 2 pack a day habit for at least 10 years.

I tell all of you this, because it is easier to let yourself down than it is to let down others. Plus, if I go completely apeshit for no apparent reason in a post, you will understand that I crave a smoke.

Piss me off... and I will gut you with a claw hammer.

Amen brother! You'll be inspiring others, like myself, to give up the smoking.

Best of luck quitting!

A couple of setbacks doesn't mean you have failed.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the support.

You can do it Subway. My last apartment I had to smoke outside I dropped to 4 cigs a day. Then I moved here where smokes are OK and it's a pack a day.

I quit a year ago (also right before I turned 30) with a 12 year habbit. It helped me to think of a few simple things.

1. After 72 hours your physical "addiction" is gone. Once you pass that line its all mental.

2. Cravings at first seem to last forever but truly only last for a few minutes. My philosophy is I can withstand anything for a few minutes.

Hope this helps you and GO IRISH!

Letting people know about this is a great approach to getting through the short-term. I used to write copy for a quit-smoking site, and that was one of the most important first steps.

You are now a non-smoker. Smokes are not an option.

This is a good thing.
